The Ministry of Tourism and Culture, The Gambia Tourism Board with its Tourism Stakeholders is attending the Internationale Tourismus-Borse Berlin (ITB) trade fair in Berlin to showcase the unique selling propositions of Destination Gambia in Germany which is an important source market for the country on 4th– 6th March, 2025.
Since 1966, ITB Berlin has been the leading platform for the global travel and tourism industry. Under the motto “The world of travel lives here,” ITB Berlin 2025 once again expects exhibitors and trade visitors from all over the world. Around two-thirds of the exhibitors and nearly half of the participants come from abroad, all with significant decision-making power.
The trade show is clearly structured: in addition to the geographic division by destinations, market segments such as Adventure Tourism, Business Travel, LGBTQ+ Travel, Luxury Travel, Medical Tourism, and Travel Technology are represented.
In parallel to the exhibition area the ITB Berlin Convention, the leading think tank of the tourism industry, takes place on the fairgrounds. Here, experts discuss the trends and innovations shaping the future of travel. Currently 5,800 from over 170 countries are attending this year‘s ITB.

As the travel industry most important annual event, ITB Berlin 2025 is hosting over 24,000 delegates under the theme “The world of travel lives here”
Mr. Adama Njie, Director of Tourism Promotion Gambia Tourism Board UK Office, explained that Germany is a highly coveted tourism destination, comprising potentially high spenders, thereby underscoring the importance of participating in this tourism show for The Gambia.
“Further travel meeting and discussion lineup for this special event. Undoubtedly, the efforts of Gambia Tourism are visible, considering this year as a great tourism season for the destination. Gambians living around this area are encouraged to attend and possibly meet with tourism officials for joint campaign initiatives” he added.
He explained this prestigious international event serves as a crucial platform for promoting Destination Gambia to a global audience, with a particular focus on the German market, which remains a significant source of visitors to the country.
According to him, participation in this event is instrumental in positioning The Gambia as a top tourism destination, fostering sustainable growth within the sector, and ensuring a competitive presence in the global travel market.
